Privacy Policy
Effective May 5, 2026
TallyCAT is built and operated by PWNSware LLC(“PWNSware”, “we”, “our”). This Privacy Policy explains what data the TallyCAT app handles, where it goes, and what you can do about it. The short version: TallyCAT is a privacy-first app. Your data lives on your device and in your own private iCloud account, not on our servers.
Data You Enter
Everything you create in TallyCAT— dogs, runs, events, photos, notes, and settings — is stored locally on your device using Apple’s SwiftData framework and automatically mirrored to your own private iCloud account via Apple CloudKit. PWNSware does not have access to that data, does not host it on our servers, and cannot read it.
If you disable iCloud for TallyCAT in iOS Settings, the data stays only on the device where you entered it.
Camera, Photos, Calendar, Location
- Camera— used only when you scan a Fast CAT run ticket. The image is processed entirely on-device by Apple’s VisionKit framework and is not uploaded anywhere by TallyCAT.
- Photos— you can attach photos to dogs and runs through Apple’s in-process photo picker. TallyCAT only reads photos you explicitly select. Selected photos are stored alongside your other data (device + your private iCloud).
- Calendar— the “Add to Calendar” button on an event creates an event in your local calendar only when you tap it. TallyCAT does not read your calendar.
- Location— used to auto-fill your ZIP code when searching for nearby events and to fetch local weather conditions for runs you log. Location requests stay on your device and are sent to Apple’s WeatherKit service. We do not store or transmit your location to PWNSware servers.
AKC Data
TallyCAT is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the American Kennel Club (AKC). To support features like rank lookup, event search, and result verification, the app requests publicly available pages on apps.akc.org and webapps.akc.org directly from your device. Your IP address is visible to AKC during those requests, the same way it would be if you visited those pages in Safari. We do not proxy or store this traffic.
Apple Intelligence
The Ask TallyCATchat feature uses Apple’s on-device Foundation Models framework (available on supported devices running iOS 26 and later with Apple Intelligence enabled). Conversations and the data context fed to the model stay on your device. Nothing is sent to PWNSware or any third party.
Notifications
If you allow notifications, TallyCAT schedules local notifications on your device for event reminders, AKC rank changes, and newly listed events in your selected discovery scope. They are not sent through any push notification service. You can turn them off any time in TallyCAT’s Notifications settings or in iOS Settings.
Feedback
If you submit feedback via the in-app form or this website, your message (and optional email) is sent to PWNSware’s feedback endpoint at tallycatapp.com/api/feedback and filed as a GitHub issue in the private TallyCATrepository. If you check “Include device info” in the app, a small non-identifying diagnostic block (app version, iOS version, device model, locale, pack-size counts) is appended. No names, run details, or account information are included.
Subscriptions and Payments
TallyCATPro is sold through Apple’s in-app purchase system. Apple processes the transaction; we never see your payment information. We receive only an anonymous receipt from Apple confirming your purchase status, used to unlock Pro features on your devices.
Crash Reporting
TallyCAT uses Sentry to capture unhandled errors and crashes so we can fix bugs. Sentry receives the stack trace, app version, iOS version, device model, and a hashed installation identifier. We do not send dog data, run data, names, emails, or any user content to Sentry.
Analytics and Tracking
We do not use third-party analytics, advertising SDKs, or cross-app/website tracking in TallyCAT. We do not have an App Tracking Transparency prompt because we don’t track you.
Children
TallyCAT is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has used TallyCAT in a way that resulted in personal information being shared with us, contact us and we will take appropriate steps.
Your Rights (CCPA / GDPR)
Because TallyCATdata lives in your own iCloud account and local device storage, you can access, edit, export, or delete it at any time directly from inside the app (Settings → Data → Export CSV, Delete Data) or from iOS Settings → Apple ID → iCloud. We do not hold a separate copy. If you have specific requests under CCPA, GDPR, or similar laws, contact us at privacy@pwnsware.com and we will respond within 30 days.
Changes
We’ll update this page if our practices change. The effective date at the top reflects the most recent revision. For material changes we’ll surface a notice in the app.
