About Saluki in Fast CAT
Salukis are among the oldest dog breeds on earth, bred for high-speed coursing across open desert — Fast CAT's 100 yards is well within their ancient job description.
Competitive Salukis run 33–36 MPH at the 1.0× handicap. The breed's top of the leaderboard sits in the mid 30s, with multiple individual Salukis having cleared 37+ MPH over the past decade. They're squarely in the elite-speed tier with Greyhounds and Whippets.
Salukis are known for their independent streak — they will chase the lure when they want to chase the lure. Handlers report that Salukis who don't engage on their first event sometimes click on a later trial; others never become competitive. Patient handling and high-drive lure exposure at home help.
