About Rat Terrier in Fast CAT
Rat Terriers are compact American farm dogs with the prey drive to chase anything that moves and the speed-to-handicap ratio that makes them Fast CAT point-scoring darlings.
Competitive Rat Terriers run 22–26 MPH. Standard Rat Terriers (13–18" at the withers) earn the 1.5× handicap; Miniature Rat Terriers (under 13") earn the 2.0×. With either handicap, the breed's per-run points compete with much larger breeds.
Rat Terriers bring exactly what the breed name implies — single-minded prey focus on anything moving across the ground. Most Rat Terriers chase the lure aggressively from their first run. The breed's small but dedicated handler base keeps the breed top 20 highly competitive.
