Pharaoh Hounds are ancient Mediterranean sighthounds that translate millennia of rabbit-coursing instinct directly into Fast CAT competitiveness.
Competitive Pharaoh Hounds run 30–33 MPH at the 1.0× handicap. The breed's leaderboard sits in the low 30s. They bring textbook sighthound build — long stride, deep chest, lean frame — and almost universal lure interest. Most Pharaoh Hounds chase the bag from their first run.
The breed's small AKC population means the top-20 cutoff is more accessible than for Whippets or Greyhounds — even moderately campaigned Pharaoh Hounds can reach the breed top tier with a season of consistent runs. The handler community is tight-knit and helpful for newcomers.
