About Dachshund in Fast CAT

Dachshunds are short-legged scenthounds with intense prey drive and three coat varieties competing at three sizes — every Doxie at a trial is a different points calculation.

Competitive Dachshunds run 18–22 MPH. Standard Dachshunds (10–12") earn the 1.5× handicap; Miniature Dachshunds (under 11" at the withers) earn the 2.0× handicap. With the multiplier, a 21 MPH Mini Doxie earns 42 points — directly competitive on a per-run basis with mid-tier sighthounds.

Dachshunds bring the most enthusiasm-per-pound of any breed in the sport. Most chase the lure from their first run, and the breed's general fanbase has made Dachshund Fast CAT entries one of the largest categories at most events. The breed top 20 turns over substantially year to year.
